Brief Bio:

Parents are Japanese/British citizens (Mother born in England but father born and lived in Japan originally. He was in England on business when he met her mother. After marrying mother moved to Japan with him. When he retired they moved to England to stay. Okashi was 10 when this happened.

Okashi is the youngest of the family. She has at least one older sister who works or was working as a model for the Japanese Ivanka Inc branch. She has an older brother who now runs her father’s business. Her other brother also works here.

Father works in fashion…manufactures/designs/exports Kimono’s, both modern and traditional. When he retired, he left the business in the hands of his oldest son, Kohaku. Shinobi also works in the company, and probably down the road, both brothers will be full partners and run it together.

Possible connection between Sasahara Fashions and Ivanka Inc. Tokyo (they may hire them to model their Kimonos for fashion shows, advertising, photoshoots… Daughter Yuki works for Ivanka Inc as a model…probably gets used in most of the family business shoots as well.

History:

Takehashi Sasahara owns one of the largest silk kimono companies in Japan, with branch offices in China, Korea and other parts of the world. Though he makes stylish kimono reflecting the traditional patterns using the finest silks and other materials, he also designs more modern and simplified designs which suit the tastes of the modern world.

Sasahara Kimono’s have been in his family for many generations and a family business that he hopes will last for many generations to come. When he was thirty-six he traveled to the UK to open markets there for his kimonos, especially for the growing oriental population in England and other cities. It was during talks with various clothing retailers that he met Kareko Yamamitsu, daughter to (insert name) who owned many oriental stores operating in England, Wales and in North America. While negotiating business, Takahashi took a liking to the quiet woman who served sake and tea while he talked with her father. When he learned later she was a witch, this interested him greatly. As he was a wizard himself though Muggleborn, he was quite pleased to meet another from his world.

With his business keeping him in England for several months, it was plenty of time for him to fall in love with Kareko and take her to wife. She did not want to leave England to live with him and because it meant so much to her, Takahashi conceded to her wises and stayed in England. This did mean he had to travel back and forth quite a bit and she stayed with her parents during the times he was away.

A year after their marriage, Kareko produce him a fine son who they named Kohaku. He was born in 1967 making his parents very pleased and proud. Takahashi was pleased with his wife who gave him a son so quickly. He was even more pleased when two years later she produced another son, Shinobi. With business doing good and two sons with his wife, Takahashi couldn’t have wished to be happier.

Roughly eight years later when Takahashi learned his wife was pregnant again he was thrilled. With such a long cap since their second son, he was sure his wife would not produce anymore children. Both of them wanted a large family as Kareko loved children and raising her two sons so far were the joy of her life. They also helped with the loneliness while her husband was away to Tokyo with his business.

Then only a few weeks after she confirmed she was pregnant with the Healer, while her husband was away she was woken up late at night by a terrible noise. Immediately she knew somebody had broken through the magical wards around her parent’s home. As she didn’t expect her husband to return for at least another day, she didn’t know what to do. Both her parents were elderly and she took care of them along with her two sons, the oldest being just recently turned ten and the youngest still eight.

Taking up her wand she ran to her sons rooms, prepared to defend them with her dying breath if needed. Apparently it was very much needed for she soon discovered a pair of Death Eaters had broken into her house and were already terrorizing her elderly parents. Though she was not a powerful witch Kareko did her best to fight them, yelling in Japanese for Kohaku to get help and protect his brother. As she was still quite pretty, the Death Eaters were more interested in her than what she was saying in a language they didn’t understand.

Takahashi, unaware his family was in grave danger returned to England earlier than expected and decided to surprise his wife and children. When he noticed the Dark Mark over his wife’s parent’s home he feared the worse. Bursting in he managed to surprise the Death Eaters attacking his wife and drive them away enough to get to her. Kareko, seeing her husband had miraculously appeared ran to his side and held onto him while they ran to see to the children.

The Death Eaters were far from done tormenting them but Kohaku called the Aurors and they appeared only a few minutes later. By the time Takahashi and Kareko had to face the Death Eaters they were aware Aurors had arrived and fled. Takahashi was not sorry the Death Eaters left, and with his family safe but knowing they were now in great danger, knew they couldn’t stay here.

Kareko was devastated when she learned her father died, unable to recover from the torture and injuries the Death Eaters inflected upon them. Not only did she have to deal with the loss of her father but one of the curses the Death Eaters cast upon her left her permanently deaf. Takahashi stayed only long enough for a quick funeral before he packed up his wife and children and mother in law and took them back to Tokyo. With Voldemort still in power and for whatever reason the Death Eaters decided to attack his family, Takahashi couldn’t leave them to fate retaliation.

Yuki Sarahara was born in Tokyo five months later, completely unaware at how close she came to never being born at all. Kareko found work in Tokyo as a seamstress in her husband’s business though she only worked part time. Her sons entered Durmstrang Institute for magical learning when they came of age. A few years later, Kareko had a second daughter, Okashi. By now she was nearly 38 years old and her husband 74. Kareko did not know if she will have another child before her husband grew too old to perform his husbandly duties. But she had four healthy children, two boys and two girls and she was content.

When Kohaku turned twenty-five., Takahashi officially retired from work and handed over his business to his sons. Kohaku will retain controlling interest in the business and be CEO till his brother turned twenty-five himself, then they would equally share the business. As he knew his wife missed her England home and it being many years since the Dark Lord fell and all his followers arrested or freed of his control, Takahashi moved his family back to London. The year was 1992 and Okashi was ten years old once they settled back into her mother’s parent’s home.

Okashi wasn’t happy about leaving all her friends and most of her family in Tokyo but when she learned she will still go to Beauxbatons for magical training the following year, she didn’t recent it too much. She knew she would see her older sister at school. Yuki was four years her senior but Okashi missed her. Her two brothers were so much older so she didn’t see much of them.

Yuki wasn’t old enough to stay at Ivanka Inc’s boarding rooms so she stayed with her older brother. But she still went to school when she wasn’t doing any shoots for Ivanka Inc. Kohaku was glad to put up his sister for a couple years, knowing she would be at Beauxbatons Academy most of the time continuing her magical education.

With this major concern taken care of, Okashi and her parents moved to London where she spent some time sulking because she had no friends. But she was in a new city and did enjoy exploring the city with her mother and writing all her friends in Japan about her new home.

Summer ended and she started magical school. At first her parents suggested she could go to the local magical school, Hogwarts but Okashi wanted to go to Beauxbatons as her magical friends will be there and her sister. Her parents relented easily. They just wanted to let her know she had the option.

Seven years of magical schooling went fast of Okashi. She made friends in Beauxbatons but never seemed to make too many while in London on holidays. As was traditional in her family she was taught how to cook, keep the house and how to entertain. With her older sister likely to remain unmarried for far longer than most Japanese women, Okashi felt the pressure to find a suitable husband. She knew her mother would eventually play matchmaker if she didn’t.

Okashi had a few boyfriends in school but none of them became serious. In fact her last boyfriend she broke up with left her rather upset. His name was Luc Legrande and he was very popular and handsome. She did really like him but she learned he was only interested in her for sex. When she continued to refuse his hints about them sleeping together he ended up sleeping with a girl nearly two years younger than she was. Okashi only found out about it because the girl he slept with was her best friends’s youngest sister. Okashi was heartbroken. After that she didn’t date any more at school.

The other boy she dated before Luc she thought of him as a friend more than a boyfriend, was Pierre Prideux. She dated him while she was in her 4th year and he was in his 6th year. Pierre was the sort of boy who didn’t push for sex or intimacy but he just liked to have a pretty girl on his arm as often as possible. Okashi found him dashing and funny and did get to meet a fair bit of older students while she was with them, including Nina Poliakoff. It didn’t take her long to find out Nina was the niece of Ivanka Poliakoff who’s modeling business her sister worked for. Also her brothers did business with Ivanka Inc. Tokyo. This family connection gave Nina and Okashi common ground to talk.

They were friends but when Nina graduated two years before Okashi she lost touch with her after a summer or so. She didn’t think to try and look Nina up as she assumed she was back in Spain where she was raised. Okashi never suspected Nina would end up moving to London, where she returned after school ended.

Once graduated Okashi found work at a luxury Japanese restaurant named Happyaku where she served high paying clients. It was a very traditional restaurant which served private meals as well as dinning room but her skills and popularity among the regulars soon had her serving the private diners.

Okashi stayed with her parents as their home was large and she had her own section and even a small kitchen where she could prepare her own food. However she did not mind helping her mother preparing meals for her father who was getting along in years now.

Despite pressures to find herself a good wizard to marry, Okashi enjoyed being in London. She was friends with most of the other waitresses and servers at the restaurant she worked in and kept in correspondence with her sister, brothers and friends back in Japan and other parts of Europe. About the only thing she wished for was to know more magical friends here in London. Most of her friends here were Muggles yet she found she just didn’t get close to any while she shopped in Diagon Alley.

Though she is a bit quiet with new people, Okashi had a nice enough personality that once she grew comfortable with people she enjoyed their company. Its just wizards she really became shy and quiet. Other witches she didn’t have as much problems.

Okashi was recently asked by a long family friend to join her newly started London branch of her modeling company, Ivanka Inc. Though her older sister was a model with Ivanka’s business in Tokyo, Okashi didn’t think she had her beauty or presence on camera to be a successful model. Ivanka offered to give her a photoshoot so they can see just how much the camera liked her but Okashi declined. She thanked Ivanka for the vote of confidence and offer but it wasn’t what Okashi wanted in life.

Recent History

Okashi on the way back home from work came across an injured dog. It looked like it was struck by a car and crawled into an alley where she spotted it. At first it growled as she approached but she talked softly and soothingly. She had some spring rolls she brought from work, for the cook often will let the staff take any left over food home instead of tossing it all out.

Food and a gentle voice earned her the trust of the dog. Okashi wasn’t a great healer or particularly skilled with how to care for animals but she knew enough to know she could use her magic to help it. But the healing spells she knew were slow and took time to work. So while she cleaned the dog up, and carefully looked over his injures, she talked to him, telling him a popular story she heard as a child in Japan, before she moved to England with her parents.

The story she heard was about a loyal dog named Hachiko who was very dedicated to his master. His master, Professor Ueno would walk to the train station Hachiko at his side and when it was time for the professor to return home from work, he would find Hachiko dutifully waiting for him. Then one day Professor Ueno died at the University he taught at and thus never came home. But Hachiko waited faithfully for his master. Even when he was given to new owners, he would escape and return to his home, looking for his master. Eventually Hachiko realized his master wasn’t at home so he returned to the train station and waited diligently there for his master.

People who knew the Professor recognized Hachiko and realized he was there waiting for his master and were touched by his plight. Thus they fed him and left him food and water so he could continue to wait for his master. For ten long years Hachiko waited, never once failing to turn up when the last train arrived, the train his master would always be on. Hachiko never gave up hope his master will come home, till the day Hachiko himself died, perhaps now he has finally been reunited with his long missed master.

By the time Okashi finished her tale, she finished healing the dog’s injures and left him with the last of the food she had with her. When she passed that same alley the next day on the way to work, she saw no sign of the dog and didn’t think of him again. She was just glad she was able to heal him and hoped he had returned to his master.

Okashi’s kindness would be a saving grace her for her, nearly a month later. Okashi and a few friends from the restaurant she worked in decided to get together and go out. There was a club they could go to where the music was great and they could all relax and have fun. Normally Okashi didn’t like to go to dance clubs as all the noise and drinking bothered her but even she needed to have fun at times.

Because her parents always frowned on her coming home drunk and the fact Okashi didn’t like to drink too much anyway, she didn’t have more than a cocktail or two, nursing them between dancing. She later switched to soda so she wouldn’t forget herself and end up drinking too much.

At closing time they left the club, laughing and filled with excitement for they had a great time together. Some of her friends were rather drunk but Okashi made sure they all got into a cab together. When her last friend was dropped off and left her with money to help with the total cost of the taxi, Okashi didn’t feel like going straight home. She had the driver drop her off about a block away from home and paid him in full. Okashi and her family lived in a fairly well off neighborhood with very little crime, so she didn’t think she had anything to worry about. Also she was a witch, and felt she could take care of her self in something unexpected happened.

What she didn’t expect was a group of young toughs who normally didn’t get to close to her neighborhood to spot her. She also didn’t expect one to hit her so hard she fell and cracked her head hard against the edge of the sidewalk.

When she woke up she couldn’t remember where she was or who she was. But she didn’t have her purse anymore, all her money was gone and it was fortunate the thugs didn’t rape her while she was unconscious. Staggering up to her feet, she started to walk, unaware of where she was going.
